We have stayed in a lot of motels recently and Golden Bay Motels was one of the best. We loved the 3 bed unit with the large space, the quietness of this spot and the lovely native plantings out the lounge door. Fantastic well done.

First time ever in Takaka and this place was pleasant. Dated and felt like I was staying at grandmas but thats not a bad thing. Spacious, clean, had everything we needed and Lex was very easy to deal with. He also upgraded us for free to a 2 bedroom unit instead of the studio unit which with 2 toddlers was a godsend!! Very close to town, a 2 minute bike ride down the road. Great central location to go on drives out to different beaches or the Anatoki Salmon farm, highly recommend this if you have kids. Free shed to keep the bikes in, free washing amenities which is great when you're constantly at the beach and bringing half of it back with you.

On arrival we were greeted warmly, great service and nothing a problem. The manager had great local knowledge. Was great being able to use the laundry and great pricing (washer free dryer $4, coins can be obtained from office, laundry powder also provided free). Due to a booking issue we got to use 2 different units (3 & 4) Unit 4 from the lounge you had a view over the back yard/playground, nice and sunny with a small porch if you wanted to enjoy breakfast coffee outside. Unit 3 the bedroom over looked the yard/playground very sunny, with the small porch also. The units are very spacious, tho both the bathrooms on the small side, and we personally found both beds too soft. Older motel but would stay again.

Not much to say. Good location, clean and spacious rooms and friendly service. There was even a playground in the back for kids. Jo was really accommodating and welcoming. We will definitely be back when we're back in Takaka.

You won’t regret booking and staying here. Our unit was tidy and super clean. Everything you need is inside. Kitchen comes with kettle and microwave. Fridge as well as a toaster. Supermarket is about 10mins walking so are all the restaurants and retail. Beautiful garden in the back with swings and a trampoline for kiddos. You can even borrow a bbq from them. Fruit trees outside for your enjoyment. Well maintained facility and caring staff. What more could you ask for.

Nice clean Motel handy to town. Stayed for 3 nights and didn't hear a sound from other guests. Nice outlook over the garden. Everything there if you cook your own meals. Unit was freshly painted, clean and new carpet. Only half a point to deduct for the fairly outdated shower. Great place can highly recommend.

Very comfortable and well appointed. Generous breakfast. Looks out on lawn and trees. Very friendly and obliging hosts. Good value in every respect! Well positioned to enjoy the township and the region as a whole. We will be back, this is our "go to" motel in Takaka.

This motel was spotless and I mean spotless. So much so that I went out of my way to share my appreciation with the owners. Location is great for waking in to Takaka. Nice grounds to compliment my evening glass of Pinot, spacious and having a seperate bedroom allows one to be up whilst the other has a lie in, good to see they recycle too! And we would book again.
